Welcome to the website of the New Testament Church of God, Cheetham Hill, affectionately known as ‘Cheetham Christian Centre.’ We are a multicultural church in the heart of the community of North Manchester, and as you search the pages of this website you will find that we are more than a building or place of worship. We are a caring and compassionate church, and place Jesus at the centre of our worship. As the saying goes, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." Our principal mission is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations. We welcome people from all racial and ethnic groups.

We believe that in every generation God calls people to make a difference to their world and, as a local church, we too have been called to make a difference to our world. In fact, the Early Church, birth on the Day of Pentecost, showed how impacting a church can be, as it serves the community, and demonstrated the seven characteristics of a Spirit-filled church (see Acts 2:42-47). For example:

                  1. Believers were discipled and nourished continually in the apostles teaching – the Word, so that they became a Word-centred church.
                  2. Fellowship – believers not only nourished and developed a vertical relationship to God, but also horizontally in fellowship with each other – displaying a warm, honest and open relationship based upon a common life together in Christ.
                  3. Breaking of bread - an act of true fellowship and in accordance with the teachings of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
                  4. Prayer – embodies the very life and ministry of believers.
                  5. Miraculous signs and wonders – demonstrating the presence and power of the Holy Spirit among the believers, and impacting their witness to unbelievers. As a result, the church grew.
                  6. Sharing community – C. S. Lewis says, “All human beings are made for life in community with God.” Not many people on earth have experienced community like the early church.
                  7. Making disciples – they exemplified a righteous and holy lifestyle, and by so doing effectively permeated the community they served, which resulted in new converts been added to the church daily.
The mission and vision for our church echo these seven characteristics of the Early Church. Working in partnership with the Holy Spirit we aim to build a church where all members, both current and future, will discover their God-given gifts and talents; empowered and released to pursue their ministry calling, as we seek to “Make a Big Difference” to our world here in Manchester and beyond.
So, if you are looking for a home church, or have a particular need or talent, we would like to welcome you to one of our services - the place where Jesus is ALIVE!
